Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise involves the implementation of specific movements, postures, exercises or activities focused on:

  1. reducing pain
  2. increasing range of motion
  3. improving strength
  4. improving function
  5. enhancing fitness and well-being
  6. improving posture

When designing a therapeutic exercise program a physiotherapist will consider the stage of your injury or disease to determine which exercises are appropriate for you at that point in time.  Your exercise program will be adapted and progressed as you recover to your full potential.  Ultimately, your physiotherapist will provide you with the skills and knowledge to continue with an independent fitness program to enable you to maintain and improve your newly discovered potential for movement and function.
